 Day 1042

Phin has a new obsession with hot chocolate. He likes it with a lot of chocolate, a lot of marshmallows and a little bit of milk. First, he sips it from the cup to test the temperature (it is always too hot for his sensitive little tongue). So then he demands a spoon so he can shovel the marshmallows into his mouth. Meanwhile, the hot chocolate becomes luke warm. Still, though, he insists on using the spoon, and, of course, asks for more marshmallows. He continues in this fashion until he reaches the bottom of the cup; here he discovers a chocolate lover's weight in gold--the syrupy chocolatey sludge dripping and oozing all over the bottom. This is the moment he has been waiting for, and is pleasantly surprised every time he strikes it rich.

Day 1041

Winter Song by Sarah Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum bum

This is my winter song to you
The storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea

My voice, a beacon in the night
My words will be your light
To carry you to me

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love...

They say that things just cannot grow
Beneath the winter snow
Or so I have been told

They say we're buried far
Just like a distant star
I simply cannot hold

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?

This is my winter song
December never felt so wrong
'Cause you're not where you belong
Inside my arms

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum bum
Bum bum bum bum bum bum

I still believe in summer days
The seasons always change
And life will find a way

I'll be your harvester of light
And send it out tonight
So we can start again

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?

This is my winter song
December never felt so wrong
'Cause you're not where you belong
Inside my arms

This is my winter song to you
The storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea

My love, a beacon in the night
My words will be your light
To carry you to me

Is love alive?

 Day 1040

We spend a lot of time at the pool, so Phin is constantly coming up with ways to entertain himself. It took me a while to find him sitting in a locker in the girl's locker room. It's a good thing he's cute and only three.

 Day 1038

Field trip with photo class to Little Italy. Thought I would focus on doors. Thought I should have brought my DSLR instead of using the camera on my cell phone. Seriously. What was I thinking?

Morning snuggles with my boys.

 Day 1036

Snack night with my boys. Lizzie attended her first sleep over, so Mark and I prepared a picnic of nuts, olives, cheese, some fruit, a small steak with dipping sauce, and a baguette to eat on the living room floor in front of a blazing fire. Moments after stuffing his belly, Phin fell sound asleep on the couch while Mark and I were in the kitchen cleaning. Clearly he is in Man Training.
